Three women, including Chachama Ya’ara Wiedman Samuel ’25, made history by becoming the first to take Israel’s Chief Rabbinate exam, following a landmark High Court ruling that deemed their exclusion unlawful after years of legal challenges. On track to take the next exam is Rabbanit Sarah Segal-Katz ’25, one of the original petitioners. She explains: “This petition is not just about women; it’s about equality in our society. It’s a long way, but we need to continue fighting. It’s hard, but I still believe in the institutions of the state.”
