Join Rabbi Dr. Erin Leib Smokler for weekly study of the parsha with Chasidic commentary. This year we will be examining early Chasidism through the lens of the Degel Machane Ephraim, R. Moshe Chaim Ephraim of Sudlokov (1742-1800). The Degel, as he is called, was the grandson of the founder of Chasidism, the Baal Shem Tov (“BeSHT”), R. Israel ben Eliezer (1698-1760). The BeSHT left almost no written record, so we learn of his legacy through his students and descendants. Come learn about the roots of the movement and be inspired by some of its earliest teachings.
