Atira Chaya Weichmann

Atira Chaya Weichmann is an Orthodox transgender woman based out of Crown Heights. Her worldview is rooted in Chabad Chassidus and a strong commitment to pluralism. She believes traditional observance is augmented by embracing marginalized identities. She was drawn to traditional observance by its ability to give meaning to every moment of her life and find purpose in the most difficult of experiences. She currently leads a monthly transgender shabbos dinner, is a member of the Crown Heights Chabad community, and is continuing her Jewish education in the hopes of being a resource to other transgender Jews.
